Marion Historic District Study Committee

This Committee was dissolved by the Select Board on June 3, 2025.

The Marion Village Historic District Study Committee has worked diligently to develop a bylaw for a Local Historic District in Marion Village. This bylaw would have very limited review authority. The goal is to strike a balance between preserving our historic village and enabling home and business owners to alter and expand their properties with minimal restrictions.

The bylaw aims to preserve and protect property values as well as the distinctive architectural and historic significance of buildings in Marion Village. The Committee believes that the proposed bylaw will build Marion residents' pride and commitment to our community, increase property values and be both a recognition of the people that came before us and a wonderful legacy to those who come after us as we approach Marion’s 175th anniversary.

In response to requests made at the January 15, 2025 public information meeting, and because the voice and opinion of all property owners within the proposed district is important to the Committee, we have created this simple survey. Please consider this an important opportunity to formally express your opinion.

Paper copies are available at the Marion Town House, 2 Spring Street.
