Transfer Station
Location: 55 Benson Brook Road
Hours of Operations: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00am - 3:00pm
Transfer Station Stickers:
- Stickers must be purchased prior to disposal of items
- The 2025 Transfer Station stickers are issued from the Harbormaster's Office at 1 Island Wharf Road.
Accepted materials:
- household trash/recyclables
- paper/newspaper/cardboard
- magazines/computer paper
- corrugated cardboard/junk mail
- flat cereal boxes/glass containers
- plastic containers/steel cans
- aluminum cans/light metal
- stoves/dryers/washers/bicycles
- gas grills/water heaters
- lawnmowers with no gas or oil
- microwave ovens/ dish washers
- Misc. metals/florescent light bulbs
- carpet no longer than 3 feet in length
- grass clippings/leaves and composting materials
Additional Items:
All Additional Items require an extra disposal fee, which can be purchased at the DPW Administrative Office.
- Televisions and computer monitors - $50.00
- Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, ice makers, water coolers and dehumidifies - $40.00
Materials not accepted:
- brush/tree limbs/tree branches/stumps
- logs/stone/asphalt/brick/concrete
- insulation/propane tanks
- pressure treated wood
- mattresses/box springs
- demolition materials/tires
- construction debris/lumber
- flammable items
- radioactive items
- fiberglass shower stalls
- large furniture (i.e. couches, chairs, etc.)
Transfer Station Policy:
Employees at the Marion Transfer Station have the authority to refuse excessive amounts (5 bags) of household residential waste, and/or materials deemed unacceptable but not specifically identified. Failure to abide by the Transfer Station employees instruction will be cause for loss of Transfer Station Privilege. More information about all town stickers could be found here.
